OUR TIMBERS

Using wood in your home really does create a warmth that no other material can compete with.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that bringing a bit of mother nature inside connects us to the earth, or maybe it is as simple as the fact that the natural appearance of timber is more attractive than the bland characteristics of other materials such as metal or plastic. Whatever the reason, we as humans instinctively gravitate towards wood.

At Bomitali Woodcraft, we use a variety of timbers that are mainly locally and sustainably sourced. We do not expect you to know all of the choices available, but if you let Shane know what you are looking for, he will steer you in the right direction. Or maybe, you have your own timber that you want us to craft into something special? It’s up to you!

Some of our customers most loved and most frequently requested timbers are listed below.

SUSTAINABILITY

Wood is one of the most environmentally friendly construction materials.

We source our timbers locally from companies that use sustainable practices.

We also love to work with reclaimed wood, or can refurbish or upcycle an item to suit you.

High Quality & Long Lasting Furniture

In today's consumerist world, by purchasing higher quality products or reusing the ones you have, you are doing your bit to help Mother Nature.

Recycle

As we do not use treated products, our leftover sawdust can be used for garden mulch or for pet enclosures.

Upcycle

Reclaimed timbers can be used to create stunning, rustic items with a wow factor. Old railway sleepers timber doors, or even pallets (to name a few) can be transformed into something uniquely beautiful.

Reuse

Do you have an item that you adore, but it just needs a little bit of love? Maybe the dog has chewed the coffee table legs, or the chairs you’ve had for years are just looking a bit tired and dated? We can breathe life back into your piece with a refurbishment.

Sustainably Sourced

We use companies that practice rehabilitative forestry.

Reduce

Hardwoods come from slow-growing trees with higher density timber. This means that the item we build you will be stronger and you can enjoy it for years to come. This means less waste as no need to replace cheaper, less durable items.

TIMBER GALLERY & INFO

Victorian Ash.jpg

VICTORIAN ASH

Vic Ash is a highly versatile light-coloured hardwood with cool muted tones in its raw form. However, with even the clearest of finishes, the timber is transformed into a gorgeous range of blonde hues from creamy golden to ash and strawberry blonde. The dark veins of the timber also pop to create an awesome natural feature. It can also be easily stained a wide range of colours to suit your home

PNG ROSEWOOD

Papua New Guinea Rosewood is one of the most popular imported timbers that we use. It’s rainbow of colours from fiery red to burnt orange/yellow and golden brown are just stunning and we can create a gorgeous effect by using contrasting colours adjacent to each other. As only small amounts of PNG Rosewood are imported, this timber is more expensive, but the results are truly luxurious.

RAINTREE

With the stunning contrast of cream sapwood and chocolate brown heartwood, Raintree is the perfect choice for creating a showpiece for your home. It was originally imported to Australia from Central and South America because the trees have widespread umbrella-shaped canopies – perfect for creating shade in the tropics!

The unique ripples of woodgrain in each slab ensure a truly eye-catching end-result.
